Aluminium – Aluminium recycling today Part 1 | All about aluminium SEQUEL 17

Processes used to recover secondary aluminium are being improved all the time – on the one hand out of environmental considerations, but also due to ever increasing quantities of painted metal parts such as drinks cans, and aluminium mixed with other materials. These mean that even complex and involved recycling methods have now become a viable proposition.
Due to the high degree of recycling possible, aluminium is a material with a future – making it the ideal choice for innovative companies.

In the majority of cases, the materials reach the recycling firms ready sorted with the aid of various techniques such as magnet and eddy current separation, foam processing or manual/technical test methods.
Depending on the blend / composition of the materials, they can be remelted or refined. For highly contaminated scrap, rotary drum-type furnaces are the best solution. Here, the material is melted under a layer of salt which can be recycled.

Scrap with a high degree of type purity can be melted in special furnaces without the need for salt.
